PlainsCapital
Bank Target of Cyber Robbery
Is Your Bank
Watching Your Back?
In the cyber world,
bank robbers
carry keyboards; not guns. And, you will be surprised to learn that
not only have banks been alerted by many regulatory agencies, many
are still ill-prepared to prevent it, and may not return your money
if it's stolen from your account.
In November
2009, PlainsCapital
Bank in Dallas, Texas became
the target
of a cyber robbery.
Cyber robbers exploited
the vulnerabilities in PlainsCapital
Bank's
Internet
banking system and
initiated fraudulent
wire transfers and automated
clearing
house
(ACH) transactions and
transferred money from one
of Hillary Machinery Inc's commercial
business accounts to multiple
financial
institutions and individuals in the US and overseas.
Even though
the transactions
were
not actually authorized
by a representative of Hillary Machinery Inc and inconsistent with Hillary's
specified and/or
normal
banking practices,
the bank still allowed them to occur...........read

Manufacturing
Is Officially in 'Growth Mode'
December marked
the fifth consecutive month manufacturing nationwide has been in
growth mode, even if the up-tick won't impact Oregon for at least a
year. http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/2010/01/04/daily5.html
Texas
Manufacturing Holds Steady and Outlook Improves Further
Texas factory
activity was flat in December, according to business executives
responding to the Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey. The production
index, a key indicator of state manufacturing conditions, came in
close to zero in December, suggesting output held steady after
growing in November for the first time since July 2008....http://dallasfed.org/data/outlook/2009/tmos0912.html
Consumer
Confidence at 2 Year High
A more upbeat
outlook on jobs pushed Americans' confidence in the economy higher in
December for the second month in a row, a survey released Tuesday
said. http://www.amarillo.com/stories/123009/bus_biz6.shtml
Making Your
Existing Machine More Capable! More Productive!
More
Profitable!
-
Adding a Rotary
Table increases programmable axes to 4 or 5, increases
accuracies by reducing part handling, and increases productivity by
reducing cycle time and providing greater efficiency by reducing
labor costs. Equip your VMC for as little as $9950 Installed. (Learn

-
Adding a Hydraulic
Collet Chuck to your increases tool clearance making your
turning center more capable; increases accuracies are achieved
through greater gripping force, and higher productivity is attained
from higher speeds and greater tool forces. Add a hydraulic collet
chuck for as little as $1000 (Learn

-
Adding a Manual
Steady Rest to your CNC turning center enables higher tool
forces through increased part support while increasing accuracies and
production at the same time. If your turning center doesn't having a
tailstock, a manual steady may be able to support the end of a long
part increasing the capabilities of your turning center. Add a manual
steady rest for as low as $6,900 (Learn

-
Independent
Air Chucks can increase the bar capacity of your CNC turning
center by as much as 20%,
sometimes
more. Since an air chuck doesn't
require a hydraulic actuator,
the draw bar can
be removed to make full use of the spindle's bore. The 2 chucks can
then be interchanged as applications
dictate. Independent
Air Chucks can also be added to turning centers that do not have a
power chuck of any kind which increases the machines capability and productivity. (Learn

Pallet
Changers increase spindle utilization by as much as 95% by
having a set up ready to shuttle into the machine. All part handling
can be done while the spindle is in the cut. Pallet
changers are particularly useful when the loading and unloading of
multiple parts is time consuming. Manual
pallet changers are very economical to add to a VMC. Automatic
Pallet Changers are more
expensive but sometimes fully justified. (Learn
