Hyundai Wia Customer Reviews

hyundai wia cnc customer reviews
“……Our visit to Korea really paid off.  During our tour we were able to see the LV Series vertical turning centers being assembled in what was a very modern, clean and well organized plant. The LV800M is now installed and has met our challenge in both its capacity to machine large, heavy parts and its capability to perform both turning and milling operations in a single setup………” “…….We work about 20 hours a day in two 10-hour shifts, five days a week, and the Hyundai’s work right through both shifts. I think we have more Hyundai WIA machines than anything else. Of our 24 CNC lathes, 12 are Hyundai WIA machines purchased through Hillary Machinery…….” “…….What I am most happy with is what you get from Hyundai for the dollar you’re spending. You can compare them with more expensive machines from Germany or Japan, but those brands offer no additional capabilities that you can’t get on the Hyundai machines……” “these machines are very good at holding quality. We consistently hold ±0.0005" [0.0127 mm] all the time. Parts where we turn and bore come off of the Hyundai WIA turning centers with a 32 Ra finish. We do that on a regular basis. Normally if you need better than that, you’re probably going to need to go to grinding.” David Kulbeth, President Kalco Machine & Manufacturing Wichita Falls, Texas Commenting on the Hyundai Wia HD2200, "It's not easy to find an 8" chuck machine that is box way.  This machine is fantastic, extremely repeatable and you can take a serious cut. I liked it so much I bought another one!" Nick Fisher, Owner Fisher Manufacturing Services “The Hyundai machines are very versatile, and in the case of the L700MA’s they can mill the splines in the lathe without having to take the mandrel out of the machine to create the splines on a mill. The Hyundai’s can easily hold 0.001” to 0.002” in tolerance and repeatability. These tools have to be particularly durable because of the harsh environments in which they work and the Hyundai turning centers offer plenty of rigidity, due to their design and weight (51,808 lb.).” Juan Alvarez, President JNB Machine Houston, Texas “……..I found the Kia to be by far the biggest bang for the buck…….I could not believe how well built the machine was. It was the smallest VMC in the Kia (Hyundai-WIA) line up, but still built on a massive hunk of iron. I have cut everything from Inconel to Teflon and never had pause from the machine.  The (Hyundai-Wia) SKT160C is unbelievably versatile. With the upgraded chuck and larger through hole I can cut just about anything…..I have no problem problem taking .12 to .15 per side without slowing the spindle.” “…..The massive coolant pump is also a nice perk. It came standard with a pump that’s twice the size as the one on our Mazak and that machine is almost three times the size……..” “……I was concerned that without the larger price and Mori name I would have to watch close on tolerance. I have no problem holding .0002 all day long…..” “…..the real question is (not will we, but) when we’ll buy another Kia (Hyundai-Wia).” “……I know that I have not had any negative output, but I just don’t have any to report……” “…..When you work as a tooling support shop for a million dollar company, you have to research the right fit for the application. However, our applications are vast. We cut everything from hardened tool steels and Inconel to Beryllium Copper and Nickel Bronze. We did a lot of research, from Haas and Mazak to Mori. Pound for pound the Kia (Hyundai‐Wia) was just more machine. I hope to convince other entities throughout Halliburton to explore Kia (Hyundai-Wia). I feel that is only a matter of time.” Richard Nelms JRC / Halliburton Charge Mfg Facility Alvarado, Texas “……..we have gained 30-50 percent efficiency with the new Hyundai’s and can now produce about four mandrels with splines per day, versus the two to three per day we were getting with our old process plus, they (Hyundai-Wia’s) have had a dramatic impact on our volumes, productivity, throughput and quality…… “…..These machines (Hyundai-Wia’s) have definitely given us a competitive advantage against other companies of our size that do not have the capabilities that we now do……We ordered the first Hyundai WIA machine two years ago, and we now have four turning centers and one VMC.  We really like the live tooling on the two L700MA turning centers. Those are the first two machines we bought from Hyundai WIA and the live tooling was a very strong selling point……” “…..We are running these Hyundai machines 68 hours a week and have been from day one; they are never down, and we have parts continuously running through them. Further, these machines are not difficult to change over.……” “…..These machines are very user friendly and easy to run.  We have different (Fanuc versions) controls on the machine…..However, all of the Fanuc controls are very easy to run as well as being easy to learn…..” JC Payne, Vice President JNB Machine Houston, Texas “……We do all our turning with cermet inserts, and we find that with the Hyundai WIAs, we can run near the upper limit of SFM, which is where those inserts really shine.………the RPM capability of the Hyundai WIAs, we’ve been able to use 6061, which is better for color anodizing, not to mention lower cost………For an old lathe hand like me, there are few things more satisfying than being able to rip steel off to the absolute limits of the holding power of the chuck, without chatter and without compromising the finish or accuracy. The Hyundai WIAs will do that, in spades………We view these newer Hyundai WIA machines as replacements for our older turning centers, giving us higher RPM, quicker rapids and a sophisticated control.…….we visited a shop that was using the next smaller model, and after watching the guy bust through a slug of unleaded 4140 with a 2-inch insert drill, we were believers. Also, the Fanuc control meant we could run all of our old programs. We now have a line of four (Hyundai-Wia) L210s. Our operators—almost all women—like the ergonomics of the tooling and the quick setup with the Q-Setter.” Tony Woodward, Founder Woodward Machine Corporation Casper, WY “The surface finishes on the bearing seals are very critical……On some we get to a 32 Ra, but the majority of our surface finishes are around 63 Ra. Tolerances are typically +/- 0.0001" — but we can hold much tighter with the Hyundai F750B. The seal is probably 3 ft. in diameter, and while in this case the part is aluminum and not very heavy, we run parts on the same machine that weigh in excess of 2000 lbs. The Hyundai WIA machines are able to handle, on the one hand, light and delicate materials and, on the other, very heavy, tough, rough cutting materials. You need only look at our machining of Stellite, which is as tough and rough cutting as you can get. We take heavy cuts in Stellite, and the Hyundai WIA machines are so rigid, the material doesn’t phase them at all.” Ed Leonard, Shop Supervisor Seeley Machine Queensbury, New York “Our drive is 'get fast, faster’…….When rules change in mass as they have for the 2013 racing season, only the teams with the ability to design, manufacture and test components the quickest get the edge. This new partnership with Hyundai WIA gives MWR the competitive advantage needed this winter, to prepare for the 2013 racing season.” Michael Waltrip Michael Waltrip Racing Cornelius, NC “These (Hyundai Wia CNC’s) do everything that more expensive counterparts do but are much more cost-effective…..we did look at alternative brands but have found our existing Hyundai-Wia models very durable, reliable and fit-for-purpose. With bar feeds, conveyor unloading and tool monitoring they are often left to run unattended round the clock – plus our operators are, of course, very familiar with how they work…..like our other Hyundai-Wia machines, the new models are very ‘autonomous’ units that can be set up then left to run unattended and worry-free.” Andy Marks, Joint Managing Director Metrol Springs Northampton NN3 6QF, UK “Installing the Hyundia-Wia has allowed these components to benefit from the advantages of CNC machining – reduced set-up times and quicker machining cycles, for example, as well as gain guaranteed accuracy and repeatability. So, we went to the market for a solution, initially creating a hit list of 14 possible machines.  After reading about the experiences of a Hyundai-Wia VTL user at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham, we made the short trip to visit this user and speak with the machine operators. We realized immediately that the LV800RM was exactly the machine we needed……and the machine has exceeded all our expectations.  We knew we would gain a host of cycle time and quality benefits by introducing CNC to the machining of these rings, but the Hyundai-Wia has also allowed us to machine the rings unmanned and at night.” Barry Engstrom, Group Manufacturing Director Martin Shapland, CNC Process Engineer HepcoMotion Tiverton, United Kingdom “The machines (Hyundai Wia) are very reliable.  Overall, the whole project has been a success. We did our homework and put a lot of effort into researching the market, and we feel we have gotten our rewards.”  Steve Sharp, Managing Director Dairy Pipe Lines Saffron Walden CB11 3GB, UK “Compared to our former methods, the new Hyundai Wia from day one slashed cycle times on the S1 tool steel punches and dies, and it was this success that immediately made us look at a new machining centre for producing the various shape contoured tools.”  Julian Smith, Managing Director  Alpha Punch & Machinery Doncaster DN12 4HA, UK “So, we initially began looking at a larger capacity centre lathe, then saw that the Hyundai-Wia LV800 would offer everything we need but in a much smaller footprint, which was ideal for us since space is at a premium….an excellent value-for-money package…...It was up and running in less than three weeks and it hasn’t stopped.” Darren Grainger, Managing Director Hi-Spec Precision Engineering Oakham LE15 7PP, United Kingdom We have owned and operated CNC machines from Japan, Korea and Tawain………Our first ever CNC lathe was a Hyundai from Korea and it is still in service today………..The Hyundai WIA L210LA CNC Lathe has been commissioned with a bar feeder, parts catcher and tail stock.  It is a fast and flexible machine and is suited to medium sized production runs.  It is equipped with a Japanese Fanuc controller.  We have found over the years that the reliability and service backup of the Fanuc controllers is excellent. Company Spokesperson 58 Antimony St Carole Park QLD 4300 Australia “Importantly, the Hyundai Wia machines are all powerful, geared headstock machines – with a 26/22 kW (35HP/30HP) spindle motor on the L300C & SKT300 and an impressive 37/30 (50HP/40HP) kW with the L400LMC. These spindle ratings combine with a quality of construction that promotes rigidness and accuracy (for example, to 3.5 microns on the SKT300), plus minimal downtime. And that’s so important.” Mark Leonard, Production Manager Cosmopolitan Engineering Sheffield S4 8AS, UK “Since the beginning of this collaboration we have bought and installed forty horizontal lathes and horizontal and vertical machining centres by Hyundai, the majority of them with automatic pallet changer, including F600D and HS6300, for Canada, F410D, F500D and L210 for China, F500-50 and F500D for the Indian subsidiary as well as some models of F500D, L210A, HS6300 and L210A for the Italian market.” Giampaolo Santin Vimacchine General Manager Vicenza VI, Italy
